Top 5 Autumn Marathons?

Over jullie suggesties!

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re doing well?

These days, I am looking desperately for the perfect autumn marathon!

The Quest: A Marathon with Pancake-Flat Course?

After my previous post about the Enschede Marathon, I’m on the hunt for a nice autumn marathon, preferably with a course as flat as a pancake, and a city worth the occasional city trip.

Your suggestions were pure gold, so thank you all!

1. Frankfurt Marathon: Sausages and Cheerleaders

Frankfurt was mentioned by several readers.

Reader Claudia wants to eat sausages there, and Stefaan praised the flat course, red carpet, and … the cheerleaders.

Sounds good!

On a personal note, I did Frankfurt last year, and came in at 3 hours, 0 minutes, and 30 seconds :-(

Almost there! :-)

2. Malaga Marathon: Christmas Lights and Palm Trees

Quite some readers recommend the Malaga marathon.

This takes place in mid-December, with Christmas lights, palm trees, and lovely weather.

I haven’t experienced it myself, but I will seriously consider this one!

3. Etten-Leur: The Coziest in Brabant

The Facebook page “Van Oers Marathon Brabant”

promoted the coziest autumn marathon in Brabant, with a course through the countryside.

Several readers confirmed the great atmosphere.

Registration opens May 1st!

4. Nieuwpoort: Flat Polders, Wind, and Maritime Charm

Nieuwpoort was mentioned for its flat polders and maritime charm.

I’ve run the Half Marathon there before, and I really liked it.

Plus, together with Kathelijne, we really enjoy city trips there.

The marathon is part of the Long Course Weekend: you can also bike and swim!

5. Antwerp Marathon

Many readers suggested other marathons than the ones above: New York, Bruges, Amsterdam, the Coast Marathon, Sneek, Sofia, Budapest, Ypres, Chicago… You name it.

But with some pride, I want to highlight the Antwerp marathon.

I am a big RAFC fan. Antwerp till I die!

A few years ago, I ran the Antwerp marathon, following the 3:15 pacer. Until he suddenly ran into the bushes!

His wife explained to us he what was the matter.

S*** happens, and we continued without a pacer, it it ended well, and we finished with a great time.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, still no white smoke …

For now, the decision is still out there, I will keep you posted, of course.

With kind regards,

Peter

P.S. If you have more suggestions, please let me know?
